Start of the journey and logistical journey.
Departure Date: May 25, 2025
Travel route:
- Departure from Ezeiza (Buenos Aires) via Ethiopian Airlines
- Technical stop in São Paulo
- 13-hour flight to Ethiopia
- Additional 5-hour flight to South Africa
- Rescheduling and 23-hour layover
- Finally, arrival in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, at 11:00 PM
Local displacement:
- Hiring of a chapella (motorized cart) to pick up the pumps at customs.
- Lengthy procedures to release the equipment.
- Subsequent transport of the pumps to Chimoio (one week later).
Final leg by air:
- Flight to Beira
- Taxi to the city of Chimoio
Total travel time: 3 and a half days from Buenos Aires
The heart of the project: Water for the Orphanage.
💧 Motivation: Automate a manual pump at the “Puertas de Misericordia” Home-Orphanage, which serves between 80 and 108 children.
Social Impact:
- Women from distant communities walked kilometers to fetch water
- They carried heavy jugs on their heads
- The effort was enormous for such an essential resource
Results Achieved:
- Installation of a system that provides 2,500 liters of water continuously
- Pipes extended to a plot for a future garden with vegetables and corn
- Greater dignity, health, and autonomy for the community
Construction and Installatio in Chimoio
Initial Challenge:
In Chimoio, there was no company that manufactured metal towers for the tank and solar panels.
Solution:
- Hiring local masons
- Construction of a 5-meter cement block tower with a top slab
Simultaneously:
- Installation of 60 meters of piping
- Preparation of bathrooms and kitchen
- Assembly of the structure for solar panels with proper inclination
Time Challenge:
- The team of masons requested 15 days
- Only 7 days were available
Urgent Solution!
- Use of concrete setting accelerator
- Extended work hours, including Sundays
Result: Everything was completed on time!
